Born and raised in Tarbert, Co. Kerry, Brenda was educated at Tarbert National School and at Mount Trenchard, Foynes, Co. Limerick. Following her graduation from Mary Immaculate College in Limerick, she taught for over twenty years in Tarbert National School before pursuing her lifelong passion for painting. She studied art at the Institute of Art Design and Technology and her works are highly praised. Pieces of her artwork hang in many private collections. Primarily a land and seascape artist, her paintings have received critical acclaim for their skillful evocation of the character of her subjects. She exhibits both as a solo artist and in group exhibitions. She has collaborated with poets and writers on book covers and illustrations for texts. She accepts private commissions. In 2010 she published ‘From the Stones’, a collection of paintings and poetry with the renowned poet Mary Kennelly.
